The National Museum of Decorative Painting
April 27, 2011
There were devastating tornadoes all over north Alabama and Georgia on this day, but the sun shone on the 9 of us who made the trip to Atlanta to visit the museum. It was an easy trip for us. No one was tired. Gaynelle led and zipped us right through the Atlanta traffic. A funny thing happened - Becky's car had been trailing all the way up and just a few blocks before we reached the museum they flew right past us and beat the rest of us to the museum by a few minutes.
It was a wonderful day for us. We were treated like royalty by Director Andy Jones and Bette Marken. We were made to feel that the museum was ours. We were able to get our own preview of the angels in the new book. Andy showed and talked about many of the individual angels that will be in the new book. You will want to order a copy as soon as it becomes available. It will be fabulous.
There are so many beautiful examples of decorative art in our museum. Very old and very new. It was interesting to see and hear about the piece that inspired the museum's logo. There was nothing that wasn't interesting.
If you couldn't go or chose not to go on this trip, you really missed a great opportunity and a good time with friends.
The museum needs our continued chapter and individual support. You can become a Friend of the Museum for only $50.00.
Linda, Noreen, Betty, Gaynelle, Sheila, Becky, Andrea, Joretta and Becky's sister Pat.
