September Still Life by Carole Valtierra taught by Betty Fergus
Found in the Fall 2009 Decorative Painter magazine, page 4
Surface: 10” X 10” gallery-wrap canvas (I used a 12” X 12” and enlarged the pattern 120%.)
Palette: DecoArt Americana Acrylics: black plum, brandy wine, burnt orange, celery green, cocoa, country blue, light mocha, midnite blue, midnite green, moon yellow, plantation pine, tangerine, traditional burnt umber, warm white (use conversions if you don’t have these)
DecoArt Traditions texture medium, DecoArt Traditions extender & blending medium
Brushes: ½”, ¾” & 1”flats, ¼”, 3/8”, & ½” angles, #2 round, #1 short liner, #2& #6 filbert or other brushes to use for dry brushing (I like the dome rounds), large mop, and also palette knife
Preparation: Apply texture medium to the canvas with palette knife, leave some areas without texture, like a lightly textured wall. Do the sides also. When dry, basecoat with celery green.
If you want help with the prep, we will be doing the texture medium background prep at the Saturday workshop Feb. 19, 2011. I have extra texture medium that you may use if you don't have any.
