Linda Sellars Seminar - October 26-27, 2012
October 26-27, 2012 Seminar
Linda Sellars, Bainbridge, GA, will be teaching a 2-day seminar, Friday and Saturday, October 26-27, 2012.
Event will be held in the First United Methodist Church "Gathering Room" on Chancey St. across from the church.
We will be painting a Rooster with a faux wood grain background and an Egret with a textured background. See photo slide show below. Showing is the background and underpainting for the Rooster as well as a full color picture. Also see the full finished picture of the Egret.
Schedule: Rooster on Friday, Oct. 26. Egret on Saturday, Oct. 27
Prep Workshop: We will host a prep workshop on Wednesday, 10 Oct, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm at the "Gathering Room". Workshop will be applying the faux wood graining background for the Rooster and the textured background for the Egret. No additional charge.
For the prep, you will need the canvas, a palette knife, a light blue ( Winter Blue), Burnt Umber, Black , Glazing Medium, and a 1" brush. Modeling paste will be provided. ( Liquidtex Light modeling paste or Utrecht Artists' Acrylic Modeling Paste).
You will also need newspaper or something to lay your pieces on in your car. We will also need a hair dryer for drying the basecoat, only, on the boards.
Patterns for the 2 projects and the pre-ordered boards will be given at the workshop.
Surfaces:
Rooster - 30 x 16 piece of 3/8" plywood with handhold cut out, sanded. Purchase directly from Linda Sellars for $12.00 or provide your own surface(wrapped canvas not recommended). Linda may be contacted at phone 229-243-8762. She will bring the wood piece to the workshop, but you must pre-order by 5 Oct.
Egret - 12 x 24 wrapped Canvas. You may use either the 1/2"-3/4" thick (for framing) or the thicker 1"-1-1/2" gallery wrapped type.
Payment: Cost is $35.00 per day for members and $45 per day for non-members. Mail check made out to Wiregrass Decorative Painters to our treasurer, Sue Gullo, 71 Co. Rd. 659, Coffee Springs, AL 36318. Partial payment equal to one day is required at registration with the balance due by 19 Oct., 2012. Indicate if attending 1 day or both days. If 1 day specify which class.
Paint provided. Bring your own brushes and surfaces (except pre-ordered wood).

Noreen Engelland Mini-Seminar in July, 2011

Noreen will teach this project, July 20, at the Citizen's Bank Community Room. Fee is $10.00. Bring your prepped surface painted Black or other dark color of choice. Do not use an enamel paint for the background.

Teaching artist's note: Bring your favorite brushes, both synthetic and bristle, large and small. I recommend the most inexpensive brush that will do the job and try to keep the list short. Recommended brushes: Royal Soft Grip Bristle Flat SG 400 F #12, Bristle Flat SG 400 F # 6, Fan Bristle SG 405 FB #2 (not synthetic), synthetic Liner SG 585 # 0, synthetic Angle SG 160 1/2", synthetic detail Flat SG 150 # 4, synthetic Comb SG 730 1/2" or "Wisp", Mop SG 1400 3/4" (a Hake will work as well). Sea Wool Sponge size 5-6 (prickly tips - need not be large)
